- Recognition for Bracken Educate Together National School

Minister Sargent Announces permanent recognition for Bracken Educate Together National School and looks forward to it having a permanent home at Castlelands, Balbriggan by September 2008.

 

Mr. Trevor Sargent T.D, Minister for Food and Horticulture has been informed by Government colleague the Minister for Education and Science, Ms. Mary Hanafin T.D. that further increase in school places will occur in Balbriggan. “The fast track construction of a new permanent Educate Together school is part of this commitment,” said Minister Sargent.

 

Minister Sargent said: “I am pleased that permanent recognition is being granted to the above school under the Rules for National Schools, with effect from September 1st 2007. Permanent recognition is being granted on the basis that the school is operating effectively and is a viable school.

 

The granting of permanent recognition will trigger the payment of the Minor Works Devolved Grant.

 

It is this Government’s intention to provide permanent accommodation for the school on the site at Castlelands, Balbriggan from September 2008 subject to finalisation of legalities surrounding site acquisition and receipt of planning permission.”

 

Minister Sargent concluded by saying, “I will also continue to ensure all the other school expansion and building plans are fast tracked in co-operation with Fingal County Council, the Department of Education and Science and families seeking school places in Dublin North.”
