Fingal Green Party would welcome debate on site selection for proposed soccer academy
Green Party members in Dublin North have met to discuss the issues needing to be resolved before the Soccer Academy can be built in an alternative location.
Minister for Food and Horticulture Trevor Sargent with Fingal Green Councillors Joe Corr, Robert Kelly and David Healy would welcome a debate on site selection for the proposed Soccer Academy.
There are a number of objections from various groups as to siting the Academy near the Wildlife Reserve at the Rogerstown Estuary. However none of the opposition groups involved are opposed to the Soccer Academy being built as it is an important future Community Amenity.
What is being proposed is that it should not be built close to an area which is already designated as a SPA (Special Protected Area) and an SAC (Special Area of Conservation).
Minister Sargent is hopeful that an accommodation can be reached between the various groups and Fingal County Council. He has had a number of meetings with the County Manager to identify a good alternative site.
