- Traffic Calming on Coast Road

10 September 2008

Minister for Food & Horticulture and local T.D., Trevor Sargent today welcomed a statement from Fingal County Council concerning safety and traffic calming measures on the Coast Road between Malahide and Portmarnock.

The Minister had raised the matter with the Council following concerns of local residents who had highlighted several instances of cars leaving the road and mounting the footpath.

‘I have been informed by Fingal County Council that there is a provision of €70,000 in the Transportation Works Programme 2008 for works at this location,’ the Minister stated.

He continued, ‘I have also learned that a consultant has also been appointed for this project and a final design is currently being finalised for completion by December. In the meantime, I have been assured that short-term safety measures will be implemented in the coming weeks. I look forward to the full completion of these measures for the safety of people strolling or jogging in this very scenic area.’
