Minister for Food & Horticulture Trevor Sargent TD, has learnt from Fingal County Council that improvements to the water supply are ongoing in north Fingal.
The Council contacted the Minister following representations made to him from residents concerned about the low water pressure in the New Haven Apartments, Balbriggan.
According to the Council water pressure had been adversely affected recently, as the estate is on high ground. Pumps had been turned off at night, intermittently, to save water and ensure a reliable supply during the day. They have confirmed that the project known as the ‘Balbriggan Low Level Water Supply Scheme’ is advancing and that they hope to have a preliminary report to the Dept. of Environment by June. The initial intention is to proceed with one element of the project from Jordanstown Reservoir to Kilsough Reservoir. The remaining sections, relating to a proposed pumping station and reservoir, will proceed when the Department approves funding.
Minister Sargent commented, “I have learned from residents that the water pressure has improved immensely of late and am heartened that the Council have stated that there shouldn’t be any more problems in this area. I will continue to monitor the situation closely with people on the ground as well as Fingal County Council.”
