Fingal County Council to ensure developers clean up Lusk estate
Minister for Food & Horticulture, Trevor Sargent TD, has welcomed a move by Fingal County Council to ensure developers clean up Dún Emer Estate in Lusk.
The Minister had contacted the Planning Division of the Council, following representations from concerned local residents. They had complained of wasteland in the estate being used as a dumping ground for used building materials, old scaffolding and various other debris. This had encouraged fly tipping by others and had attracted rodents. The problem was exacerbated by the fact that it has yet to be taken in charge by Fingal County Council.
Council Official Mary Leonard, (Enforcement Section) wrote to the Minister to say that they had requested the developer in question to remove rubbish, stones and discarded concrete drainage pipes from the site.
The Minister commented, “This is a disgraceful way to leave open land in front of people’s homes. I’ll keep in touch with residents in the area and continue to liaise with the Council to ensure that this remedial work is carried out. The onus is on the developer to maintain this entire site in a tidy condition until taken in charge by the Council.”
