MINISTER SARGENT GETS UNDERTAKING ON BALBRIGGAN STATION IMPROVEMENTS
16 June 2009
Minister Trevor Sargent TD has learned that Iarnród Éireann are to carry out improvements to the main entrance to Balbriggan Train Station’s car park.
Following queries from a number of commuters, who felt that there was a safety issue regarding the narrow entrance, he has been advised by Dick Fearn (Chief Executive) that the necessary works will be carried out to remedy the situation. Work is to begin shortly to facilitate parallel entry and exit from the car park, by widening the entrance.
Minister Sargent said, ‘Problems had arisen in recent years due to the narrow entrance, which caused major congestion. I’m delighted Iarnród Éireann have taken on board local concerns and trust that when the work is complete rail users will find the car park much easier to use, particularly at peak times.’
