Food Minister and TD Trevor Sargent took up an invitation to present awards to the best ploughwomen and men in Ireland at the conclusion of the National Ploughing Championships.
The event, now in it’s 78th year, was this year held in Athy, Co. Kldare.
Speaking at the event, Minister Sargent said “If ploughing was an Olympic sport, I am certain that Ireland would be winning medals. The skill and goodwill at this event each year lift the spirits of the nation.
