- Extension of some Temporary Bus Services

Sargent Welcomes Extenstion of Temporary Bus Services Serving Balbriggan and Drogheda

Minister Trevor Sargent TD has welcomed a decision by Bus Éireann to extend its temporary services, the 101A Balbriggan to Dublin and the 101X Drogheda to Dublin, for the next three weeks. This follows correspondence on the issue of bus services on behalf of concerned local commuters during the recent disruption to the Northern Commuter
Line. The extension of the temporary licences for these services has been agreed with the Department of Transport.
The Minister said, ‘During the disruption, Bus Éireann worked in conjunction with Iarnród Éireann and the Department of Transport to ensure that a good public transport system was still available to people working and living along the Line and I am assured that they will continue to work with all the relevant parties to facilitate public transport users during the transition period.’

He continued, ‘There has been a very good reaction to these services from the travelling public. As such, during the next three weeks, I’m assured that they will monitor use of these services and will evaluate the requirement for the retention of some or all of these departures depending on customer usage.’
